Club of Rome (COR)
im April 1968 in Rom gegründete private Vereinigung von maximal 100 Persönlichkeiten aus ca. 50 Ländern.
- Anlass war eine gemeinsame Besorgnis über weltwirtschaftliche Krisenerscheinungen, gegen die die Gesellschaften von heute mit ihren Attitüden, Werten, Interessen sowie Programmen und Institutionen schlecht gerüstet zu sein scheinen.
- Ziele: Förderung des Verständnisses der wirtschaftlichen, politischen, sozialen und natürlichen Zusammenhänge des globalen Systems der Erde. Bewusstmachen eines neuen Verständnisses bei Politikern und der Öffentlichkeit im weltweiten Rahmen; Förderung neuer politischer Initiativen und Maßnahmen zur Rettung natürlicher Ressourcen; bekannt geworden durch ihre Wachstumskritik („The Limits to Growth“, 1972) und den RIO-Report („Reshaping the International Order“, 1976) sowie for a Better World Order (1993).
